Legacy Through Leadership
Today, we live in a society and culture that seems more interested in protecting and placing a person’s feelings over proclaiming the truth. Have you noticed that others look suspiciously at you if you are trying to influence someone else with your beliefs in Christ Jesus? Well, I’d like to encourage you to do as Thomas Jefferson once said, “In matters of fashion, swim with the current. In matters of conscience, stand like a rock.”
I do not know of a better way to leave a legacy, than to strive to be a Christlike influencer of people. Now, does this guarantee that you will be able to leave a spiritual legacy? I am sorry I cannot make that promise. However, it certainly gives you the best opportunity.
The Law of Legacy says, “True success is measured by succession.” To me, this means that any legacy that does not include people does not really mean much. I personally do not want to waste my time worrying about a legacy that does not carry some eternal value. So, I encourage you to strive to be a leader and influencer of people in such a way that their lives are changed into Christlikeness. Which means that this kind of leadership focuses on things like character, conviction, and becoming more like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bottom line, this kind of leadership follows the pattern laid out for us throughout God’s Word.
And trust me when I say that Leadership develops daily, not in a day, which we will see in the life of Joseph later. Over the next several weeks and months, I want us to dive into the Word and hear from God. Let us get into the Word of God and become students of Christlike leadership!
